August 30: The thrill of Victoria Falls

David Livingstone was the first European to visit the Falls and named it after Queen Victoria. But the locals still call it Mosi-oa-Tunya, the “Smoke that Thunders,” and after this morning’s expertly guided exploration, we all might agree that the local name best captures the dramatic spray and deafening roar of the mighty Zambezi River as it plunges more than 300 feet over a mile-wide chasm! Led by our expert guide and naturalist, we’ll hit all the best vantage points on both the Zambian and Zimbabwe sides of Victoria Falls including a heart-pounding view over the famed Devil’s Cataract.

After lunch back at Camp, our afternoon is at leisure to enjoy as we wish. Relax on your river-view deck or join one of the complimentary guided activities which will be offered. You can embark on a safari game drive in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, go fishing on the Zambezi River, or join a guided nature walk. Tours of Livingstone and the local museum or a guided visit to the Mkuni Market would offer a cultural dimension to your exploration of the region. This evening’s dinner at Toka Leya again includes complimentary wine, cocktails and beverages.  Meals B+L+D
