THURS - DEC 14 | The Tip of South America Following breakfast and a leisurely morning, we’ll board a fine vessel to explore the historic Beagle Channel with stops at Seal Island, Bird Island and others to discover abundant wildlife before returning to the resort for this evening’s welcome dinner with Scott and Diane. MEALS B+L+D FRI - DEC 15 | Tierra del Fuego National Park + Embark the Ocean Albatros This morning’s guided tour reveals the wild beauty of Tierra del Fuego National Park, traveling to Lapataia Bay to find indigenous species amid the region’s forested mountains and waterways. After a leisurely lunch, board our state-of-the-art ship and settle in to your outside stateroom. Meet your expedition team and get acquainted with our luxury polar vessel as we set sail. MEALS B+L+D SAT - DEC 16 TO SUN DEC 17 | Crossing the Drake Passage toward Antarctica Named for the renowned explorer Sir Francis Drake, who sailed these waters in 1578, this is the Antarctic Convergence where polar waters sink beneath warmer currents creating an upwelling of nutrients that sustains a remarkable diversity of marine life. Indeed, this is the day that we might catch our first sightings of seals and penguins. Conditions permitting, we also hope to make our first landfall in the South Shetland Islands. MEALS 2B+2L+2D MON - DEC 18 | South Shetland Islands Our exciting explorations begin. The South Shetlands offer encounters with vast penguin rookeries, numerous seabirds and pristine beaches ruled by fur and elephant seals. Our exact itinerary over the coming days will depend on weather and the decision-making of our expert ship’s Captain. MEALS B+L+D TUES - DEC 19 | Antarctica by Land + Sea Another thrilling day unfolds as we explore the sub-Antarctic islands of the South Shetland chain and head toward the Antarctic Peninsula. With our expert naturalists, you’ll set out by zodiacs or sea kayaks for unforgettable experiences. MEALS B+L+D WED - DEC 20 | The Antarctic Peninsula Wildlife abounds with many species of penguins, seals, birds and whales to be sighted. Our projected route includes the Gerlache Strait with its towering ice cliffs and pods of magnificent humpback whales. As weather, sea and ice conditions permit, we’ll venture out to explore Antarctica’s wonders up-close. MEALS B+L+D THURS - DEC 21 | Another Day of Thrilling Discoveries in Antarctica Another day of exploration by sea and land unfolds as we continue southward to Cuverville Island and the dramatic Lemaire Channel. The Albatros’s commitment to comfort and safety is always paramount, however. Onboard, enjoy our naturalist’s enrichment program covering polar history, climate, geology and wildlife every day. And you’ll delight in wonderful fine dining with wine at dinner and our open bar. MEALS B+L+D FRI - DEC 22 Majestic Antarctica Icebergs, glaciers, mountains and rugged snowfields characterize this wildly beautiful landscape. We’ll marvel as cataracts of ice tumble into clear blue ocean as we walk over active glaciers. Enormous icebergs drift silently past the ship throughout our sail in the Antarctic Sound. MEALS B+L+D SAT - DEC 23 | Cross the Antarctic Circle We venture farther south today across the Antarctic Circle, This wild and seldom visited area is rich with exciting landings, all subject to weather and ice conditions. MEALS B+L+D SUN - DEC 24 | Northward across the Drake Passage Leaving Antarctica behind us, today finds the Ocean Albatros charting a northward course across the Drake Passage once again. Our return journey will take us past Cape Horn, a storied maritime landmark at the extreme southern tip of South America. MEALS B+L+D MON - DEC 25 | A Final Day at Sea As the final day of your voyage unfolds, enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow travelers and all of our ship’s amenities.
