DAY 1 | Welcome to Osaka
On arrival at Kansai Airport, you’ll be escorted
by private car to the Imperial Hotel in the heart of Osaka.
DAY 2 | Osaka Castle + Noh Traditions Enjoy a tour of Osakajo, one of Japan’s most
impressive Shogun castles! At the nearly century-old Yamamoto Theater, our exclusive workshop explores the ancient traditions of Japan’s Noh Theater. Take in the superb views of Osaka from atop the Umeda Sky Building before our welcome dinner. meals b+d
DAY 3 | Culinary Tour + On to Hiroshima At Hozenji Temple, splash some water on the moss-covered Buddha statue for good luck, and then admire woodblock prints from the Edo era at the Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum. For lunch, savor Osaka cuisine as you explore the lively eateries of Dotonbori Street. Ride the Bullet Train to Hiroshima and check in to the 5-star Granvia Hiroshima Hotel. meals b+l
DAY 4 | Hiroshima + Miyajima Island Visit the Peace Memorial Museum and see
the Atomic Bomb Dome in Peace Park . Then tour Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island. Learn about Japanese calligraphy and the Tea Ceremony at our cultural workshop before returning to Hiroshima. meals b
DAY 5 | Embark our luxury ship, guntû After a guided walk through Hiroshima’s sake district, you’ll explore Takehara with its finely preserved Edo-era buildings. Then continue to the Bella Vista Marina where our elegant vessel awaits. Board guntû and settle in to your refined terrace suite as we begin our voyage into the springtime landscapes of the Seto Inland Sea. meals b+l+d
DAY 6 | Cruising the Seto Inland Sea
A delightful day unfolds as we step ashore on
a few of the 700 islands that dot the Inland Sea – at the peak of their Cherry Blossom glory! Immerse in daily life on the tiny island of Inujima and sip green tea as you watch a master handcraft wagashi – colorful, delicate confections made of rice flour and sweet bean paste. Back onboard, savor elegant Western and Japanese cuisine – freshly prepared to order including the day’s catch. meals b+l+d
DAY 7 | Kurashiki + On to Okayama Delight in a leisurely morning of cruising before disembarking guntû. This afternoon’s canal cruise in Kurashiki is the perfect way to see the centuries-old whitewashed granaries that are now home to galleries, museums and boutiques. Continue to the Granvia Okayama Hotel for a 2-night stay. meals b+l
DAY 8 | Excursion to Naoshima Island Spend the day on this forested island, famed for its art museums and installations. See five paintings from Monet’s Water Lilies series, strikingly displayed under natural light, and have lunch amidst the contemporary art works on display at Benesse House. Still in-progress, The Art House Project is a unique undertaking that will convert seven old homes into organic works of art that weave together the artists’ visions with the history and memories of the buildings and its former residents. meals b+l+d
DAY 9 | From Okayama to Kyoto Visit Okayama Castle, distinguished by its
unusual black stone exterior, and delight in the springtime beauty of Koraku-en, revered as one of Japan’s three finest gardens. Continue to Kyoto and check in to The Thousand, our brand new luxury hotel in the heart of this revered city. meals b+l
DAY 10 | Kyoto – Classic + Cultured After a leisurely breakfast, your full-day tour
of Kyoto begins at Sanjusangendo Temple, famed for its 1,001 statues of Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy. Then tour Nijo Castle, once the private domain of Shoguns, and behold the glittering Kinkakuji Temple. End with a guided stroll in the Gion district where Geisha and Kabuki traditions began. meals b+l
DAY 1 1 | Exploring Arashiyama
Riding in a traditional rickshaw is the perfect way to discover the ancient temples, shrines and bamboo groves of Arashiyama. Crossing the Katsura River over the Togetsukyo Bridge, you’ll have fine views of this forested district. At Tenryuji Temple, tour its tranquil gardens and enjoy a soothing cup of matcha tea. This evening’s dinner is highlighted by the artistry and grace of Maiko, young women in training to become Geisha! meals b+d
