APR 22 | Exploring Yogyakarta
Visit the Sultan’s Palace, a vast complex home to 25,000 people, and ride a rickshaw to Taman Sari to admire the gardens, pavilions and pools that were built centuries ago for a Sultan and his harem. Later this afternoon, our culinary tour finds us preparing and sampling Javanese specialties, both sweet and savory. Our day ends behind the Sultan Palace, an area that comes alive at night with residents out to enjoy some music in the fresh evening air. meals b+l+d
APR 23 | Onward to East Java
A scenic journey by rail and coach brings us to
Plataran Bromo, our charming highland resort. You’ll have time to relax and enjoy this idyllic setting before we gather for dinner. meals b+d
APR 24 | Sunrise over Bromo + Fly to Bali We'll set out early by jeep and take a short walk along the slopes of Mt. Penanjakan. As we near the summit, take in the breathtaking panorama of the sun rising over Mt. Bromo and the Sea of Sand! Then we’ll ascend to the volcano’’s rim where the roar emanating from inside the Earth is unforgettable! After breakfast, we fly
to Denpasar, where we’ll be escorted to the Viceroy Bali for a 4-night stay in Ubud, revered as the cultural heart of the island. meals b+d
APR 25 + 26 | Balinese Culture
To provide you with truly intimate experiences,
we’ll divide into groups of 8 guests. Over the next two days, each group will have a chance to enjoy both of these specially planned activities:
Our Babi Guling Feast begins at the home of Bapak Enong Ismail, a museum curator, for a brief cultural talk. After watching his neighbors prepare Bali’s classic roast pork feast, we’ll tour some of the nearby temples. Back at Ismail’s home, our Babi Guling has been roasting to perfection – and is now ready for a congenial meal with our host and his friends.
Our Subak Guliang Adventure begins in a quiet village where you’ll learn about their traditions and Subak; dating back centuries, Subak is Bali’s unique social system – both a way of life and a philosophy centered around the island’s water temples   . After an al fresco lunch, you’ll visit the lovely Pura Kehen Temple.
One evening, we’ll all sit down to the 8-course farm-to-table Degustation Menu at Aperitif, where modern gastronomy blends artfully with traditional Indonesian flavors. meals 2b+2l+d
APR 27 | The Beauty of Central Bali Exploring along the mountain roads of Central
Bali, we’ll stop to engage with villagers, to browse in colorful markets, and to admire the rice terraces of Tegalalang. If you wish, you can even make a part of this journey by bicycle. After lunch at Kafe ARMA, we’ll visit Pura Gunung Lebah, an 8th-century temple set in a lush forest. Our guided walk along the famed Campuhan Ridge Trail takes us above two river valleys with spectacular vistas. Tonight, we’ll dine at Manisan. meals b+l+d
APR 28 + 29 | Balinese Cuisine + Culture Dividing groups again over the next two days

Our Culinary Experience begins with a village family for coffee and continues through the countryside to Taman Beji Temple, In Mengwi, you'll explore the town's colorful market with our local chef before returning to his villa for a hands-on cooking class. If you wish, you can make this morning's journey from Taman Beji to Mengwi on a bicycle.
Our Spirit of Belimbing Excursion begins with a walk through coffee and cacao plantations and a chance to learn about the other crops you’ll see in terraced paddies, gardens, and fruit orchards. This walk ends at a secluded waterfall, regarded as sacred, where a Hindu priest will offer a blessing.
On April 28, we check in to Soori Bali for a 2-night stay on the island’s southwest coast. That evening’s dinner is accompanied by music and dance. meals 2b+2l+2d
APR 30 | Tanah Lot Temple + Departure After breakfast, we’ll visit one of Bali’s most iconic landmarks. Set on a rocky promontory surrounded by the sea, Pura Tanah Lot is one of Bali’s most venerated sea temples. From here, continue to Denpasar Airport for your homeward journey. Or travel on to Komodo National Park. meals b
