Day
1

From San José to Corcovado National Park

From the San Jose airport, board your included flight to Palmar Sur, a major gateway to the more remote areas of Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. Upon arrival, embark on a scenic drive to the quiet river town of Sierpe. From here, a 90-minute boat ride down the winding Sierpe River takes you through the largest mangrove wetlands system in western Central America. This is the final leg of today’s unforgettable journey from the country’s vibrant capital to the remote Osa Peninsula. Your destination is the enchanting Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge, the closest lodge to the National Park. Surrounded by gardens, tucked away in a pristine forest and cooled by Pacific Ocean breezes, the Colonial-style bungalows of Casa Corcovado are situated in a 170-acre private reserve bordering Corcovado National Park. Upon arrival, settle in to your charming guestroom and take some time to explore the spectacular setting before sitting down to dinner with your fellow lodge guests. Meals L,D

Corcovado National Park

After breakfast at the Lodge, join our expert naturalist to explore Corcovado National Park. Hailed by National Geographic as the “most biologically intense place on Earth,” this extraordinary park is one of Costa Rica’s most untouched and beautiful areas. Home to 13 major ecosystems, from highland cloud forest to mangrove swamps, it’s not uncommon to spot some of the country’s shyest and most endangered species – including scarlet macaws, harpy eagles and Baird’s tapirs. Corcovado National Park is also the only remaining lowland tropical rainforest of sustainable size in Central America and one of the few remaining in the world. Meals B,L,D

Cano Island

Off the coast lies Caño Island Biological Reserve, a protected marine reserve with an exceptionally beautiful reef bordering its shores, and an ancient Pre-Columbian burial ground. Enjoy snorkeling with your guide to see the incredible diversity of sealife.  Though visitor access to the island’s interior is not permitted, you can wade ashore and stroll along the shore.  On your return to the hotel enjoy a picnic lunch at the beach.
