Early this morning, drive into the countryside through spectacular mountain scenery to Ruhengeri, the main base town for gorilla trekking. After an informative briefing from park guides, you enter Volcano National Park to begin this once-in-a-lifetime adventure! There are four gorilla families that are habituated to human contact and their movements in the park will determine the duration of your trek. Starting at an altitude of about 6,500 feet, you’ll trek along these lushly forested slopes to catch-up with your ongorilla family. After locating them, you’ll have an amazing opportunity to watch quietly as the gorillas go about their daily routine!
