Onward to Ngaga Camp

After a light early morning breakfast, a 2-hour overland journey takes you through the forest and across the savannah to Ngaga Camp. Set in the glade of a pristine primary rainforest, this intimate and comfortable six-room camp is at the epicenter of a population of western lowland gorillas! Upon arrival, the Camp’s expert staff will conduct a fascinating and informative briefing on what to expect and how to conduct yourself while tracking these amazing primates. Thanks to the pioneering work of gorilla researchers Dr. Magda Bermejo and German Illera, there are three habituated groups of gorillas (nicknamed Neptuno, Jupiter and Mercurio) which can be observed here amidst the lush and towering vegetation of the surrounding rainforest. After your orientation, you’ll set out on foot with our expert tracker and knowledgeable guide on your first gorilla tracking adventure. Return to camp in time for lunch and a chance to relax this afternoon. Later in the day, enjoy a naturalist guided walk along rainforest trails in search of the exotic birds and animals that reside in this sector of the Odzala-Kokoua National Park, including putty-nosed and crowned monkeys, chimpanzees and the hammer bat, Africa’s largest fruit bat.
