Welcome to Odzala-Kokoua National Park

We’ve included your flight today from Brazzaville to the M’boko airstrip where you’ll be met and escorted to Lango Camp, set on the western boundary of Odzala-Kokoua National Park in the vast northwest wilderness of the Republic of Congo. This intimate new encampment features just six guestrooms, each comfortably appointed with an en suite bathroom and shower and your own 360˚ wraparound viewing walkway. After time to refresh, set out with your expert naturalist guide to explore the dense gallery forest which surrounds the camp. Meals D

A thrilling day of safari excursions

Overlooking the productive Lango Bai (a natural forest clearing that draws animals), your camp offers terrific access to the unique eco-systems of Odzala-Kokoua National Park including the adjacent forests, nearby savannah and Lekoli River. In the company of our expert guides, today’s morning and afternoon excursions take you into the surrounding wilderness in search of the region’s diverse wildlife, including the elusive forest elephant, forest buffalo, bushbuck, hippo and a variety of primates including Colobus monkeys and chimpanzees.  Meals B,L,D

Another day at Lango Camp

Enjoy another unforgettable day of guided safari excursions including game drives, forest walks and boating excursions on the Lekoli River. There’s also the opportunity for birdwatching and fishing on a catch-and-release basis. A thrilling Night Game Drive is a great chance to observe rare nocturnal species like the bongo, leopard and red river hog. These night creatures are also regular visitors to Lango Bai!  Meals B,L,D

Onward to Ngaga Camp

After a light early morning breakfast, a 2-hour overland journey takes you through the forest and across the savannah to Ngaga Camp. Set in the glade of a pristine primary rainforest, this intimate and comfortable six-room camp is at the epicenter of a population of western lowland gorillas! Upon arrival, the Camp’s expert staff will conduct a fascinating and informative briefing on what to expect and how to conduct yourself while tracking these amazing primates. Thanks to the pioneering work of gorilla researchers Dr. Magda Bermejo and German Illera, there are three habituated groups of gorillas (nicknamed Neptuno, Jupiter and Mercurio) which can be observed here amidst the lush and towering vegetation of the surrounding rainforest. After your orientation, you’ll set out on foot with our expert tracker and knowledgeable guide on your first gorilla tracking adventure. Return to camp in time for lunch and a chance to relax this afternoon. Later in the day, enjoy a naturalist guided walk along rainforest trails in search of the exotic birds and animals that reside in this sector of the Odzala-Kokoua National Park, including putty-nosed and crowned monkeys, chimpanzees and the hammer bat, Africa’s largest fruit bat. Meals B,L,D

Your second Gorilla Tracking Adventure

Arise early for a light breakfast and then set out for your second gorilla tracking expedition. Return to camp for lunch and time to rest before your afternoon safari activity. This evening, gather with your fellow camp guests for a sundowner cocktail on the main deck before sitting down to another memorable dinner.  Meals B,L,D

Morning and afternoon safari expeditions

Early this morning after breakfast, you’ll set out on foot again with our expert tracker and guide for your third gorilla tracking excursion. After lunch, a guided walk into the lush rainforest offers another exciting chance to observe the tropical birds and diverse wildlife of the Park. Meals B,L,D
