Arise to the sound of the rainforest coming to life. As the mist clears from the rainforest-covered peaks to the south, you might even hear the territorial call of the gibbon echoing through the valley. After breakfast, set out in a traditional long-tail boat across the emerald waters of Cheow Larn Lake, cradled by forested mountains that rise steeply from the lakeshore. The region is a first-class habitat for wild elephants, the rare Asian ox, various monkey species and hundreds of different tropical birds. Many of these creatures are elusive and spotting them is rare, but this morning expedition is a thrilling immersion in nature at its finest.
Your destination this morning is the unique Rainforest Camp, situated in the heart of the National Park. Your stylish floating tent features comfortable hotel-style furnishings, private en suite bath with solar and wind-powered hot and cold shower, and enthralling views of the lake, forests and mountains. After a freshly-prepared buffet lunch, join our expert naturalist for a guided rainforest walk. In addition to seeing and learning about the Park’s unique flora including huge tropical hardwood trees, orchids, palms, ferns and bamboos, this jungle expedition offers a chance to observe native species like macaques, leaf monkeys, butterflies and a variety of exotic birds.
Back at the Camp, you can take in the views from your private deck chair and go for a refreshing dip in the lake. Then join your fellow guests for a congenial dinner before retreating to your private floating tent for the night. Meals B+L+D
