Your full-day private sightseeing tour of this historic and still bustling port city begins at the magnificent Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine as you stroll along an arcaded walkway filled with shops catering to the many visitors who come to this shrine to honor Sugawara Michizane, a legendary scholar of the Heian period. You’ll pass through an imposing Torri gate and across two gracefully arching bridges to visit the Shrine’s main hall which dates back to the 16th century. Then ascend Fukuoka Tower, a striking glass-sheathed high-rise, for panoramic views over the city and bay. Enjoy a relaxing sightseeing cruise on the Yanagawa River and explore the interesting shops and eateries of Canal City, a wonderfully contemporary urban development project featuring meandering waterways and playful fountains.  Meals B
