From Sandakan to Selingan Island

Following breakfast at your hotel, you’ll be escorted to the pier for the 45-minute ferry ride to Selingan Island. Upon arrival, check in to the resort and settle in to your guestroom. Guest accommodations here are simple and basic, but your private room includes an en suite bathroom with shower. Meet your fellow guests in the cafeteria for lunch and enjoy the rest of your afternoon at leisure. There is snorkeling equipment available for rental, and the beautiful sandy beaches of this tiny island are uncrowded and perfect for swimming and relaxing.

Later this evening, an inspiring and unforgettable experience awaits: The opportunity to witness firsthand and close-up one of nature’s most amazing events!

Sometime after dinner, the Ranger will give the signal that endangered Green and/or Hawksbill turtles have been spotted emerging from the surf. Your small group will then be lead down to the shore to observe as these creatures lay their eggs in the wet sand, up to 80 at a time is not unusual. Afterwards, the Ranger will gather these eggs, label them, and bring them to the hatchery. If there are any newborn hatchlings, you will then get to watch as these tiny baby turtles are taken down to the beach and released for their first swim and return to the warm waters of the South China Sea!  Meals B,L,D

Day
