Cappadocia is a unique and historic region renowned for its ethereal geological formations and tranquil valleys - and its importance in early Christian history. For centuries, the region’s inhabitant carved the soft volcanic rock to create sprawling underground dwellings and early Christians built elaborate churches out of the porous rock.
Upon arrival at the Kayseri or Nevsehir Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by your personal guide to begin your private car sightseeing of the region’s diverse highlights. First up is the enchanting Devrent Valley, home to towering Fairy Chimneys. At the Goreme Open Air Museum, you’ll discover an inspiring complex of rock-cut churches. Dating back nearly 1,000 years, the Byzantine murals which decorate these cave churches have been remarkably preserved. Later in the afternoon, ascend to the “Citadel of Uchisar” for spectacular views over the entire region. Continue to the enchanting Museum Hotel in time to refresh before dinner at your hotel. This evening, we’ll take you to a nearby caravanserai to witness the powerful and hauntingly beautiful spectacle of the Whirling Dervishes engaged in their ancient religious ceremony. Meals L,D
