 Day 1 - Welcome to Buenos Aires

Alvear Palace Hotel - Buenos Aires, Argentina

Upon arrival you’ll be escorted to the elegant Alvear Palace.

With our expert guide, explore from historic Plaza de Mayo, still the heart of the city, to La Boca – the colorful district where the Tango was born. Explore the life of Eva Peron at the Evita Museum, set in a lovely mansion which she acquired in 1948. Tonight, we’ll take you to dinner and a Tango show at La Ventana - famed for the fiery passion of its dancers. meals b+d

In a lovely historic district, the weekly San Telmo Antique Fair hosts more than 250 vendors. Join residents who are out to shop and enjoy the impromptu performances of tango and theater that make this one of the city’s liveliest events. Then visit Zanjon de Granados. Discovered in 1986 and dating to the 1700’s, this unique subterranean architectural site encompasses a network of tunnels and cisterns that have been reconstructed and lit; this will be a fascinating look into the earliest days of the city. meals b

Fly to Iguassu and transfer to the luxurious Belmond Das Cataratas, the only hotel inside Brazil’s Iguassu National Park c. Explore along the Park’s well-maintained trails with our expert naturalist guide and delight in captivating views over the Falls. Later, you can continue exploring on your own even after the Park has closed to other visitors! Meals B

The Argentine Side of the Falls

To complement yesterday’s exploration of Iguassu’s Brazilian side, you’ll set out with a guide this morning for a full-day tour focusing on the best vantage points on the Argentine side of the Falls. At the famed Devil’s Throat Cataract, the thundering waters often create thousands of rainbows suspended in mid-air. meals b

Transfer to the airport for your nonstop flight to Rio de Janeiro. On arrival, you’ll escorted to the Belmond Copacabana Palace where our guests enjoy oceanview rooms. Meals B

Visit the Sambodromo where Samba schools compete during Carnival and tour the Metropolitan Cathedral, with its soaring stained glass windows. A thrilling 2-stage cable car takes you up Sugarloaf Mountain for breathtaking views of the city. Then ascend Mt. Corcovado to see the statue of Christ the Redeemer and enjoy 360° views over Rio. For lunch, savor Brazilian barbecue at a local churrascaria. Meals B+L

Fly to Cuzco

This morning, you’ll be chauffeured to the airport for your flight to Cuzco. After time to relax and acclimate to the altitude, your privately-guided afternoon tour includes the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun. Continue by private car into the mountains outside of town to visit the Incan site of Sacsayhuaman, known for its impressive masonry and great views over the city. At the Almudena Cemetery and bustling San Pedro Market, your personal guide will offer unique insight into all that you encounter, including ancient Andean traditions which still endure in the daily lives of Cuzco’s residents. Then join an expert in learning how to make the perfect Pisco Sour, Peru’s signature cocktail. Meals B

Through the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu

Your full-day visit to Machu Picchu begins from Cuzco aboard the Vistadome train. Travel through the captivating landscapes of the Sacred Valley, a region of timeless villages, terraced fields and snow-capped Andean peaks. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, continue by motorcoach up the winding road to Machu Picchu and explore this ancient citadel as your expert guide illuminates the history and culture of the once-great Inca Empire. Return to town for a peaceful overnight at the exclusive Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, the only hotel adjacent to the Lost City . Meals B,L,D

Machu Picchu and back to Cuzco

Behold the grandeur and majesty of Machu Picchu as the sun breaks across the mountain peaks to cast its first golden rays upon the ancient stones of this fabled Lost City. We’ve included your second entry ticket so you can experience Machu Picchu at sunrise at your own pace…. in the quiet morning light before the day visitors arrive! But please exercise caution as morning dew can make the stones and paths of Machu Picchu slippery.
