Buenos Aires to San Antonio de Areco

The pleasant drive from Buenos Aires to San Antonio de Areco takes just over an hour, but the journey brings you deep into the heart and birthplace of Argentina’s Gaucho traditions. Upon arrival, settle in to your comfortable guestroom at the Estancia El Ombu, set in a Colonial-era mansion built in 1880. Handsomely furnished in period style, 9 guestrooms offer lovely views of the Estancia’s carefully tended gardens and park-like grounds. The rest of the afternoon and evening are yours to enjoy as you wish.

You can explore the 75 acres of the Estancia on foot or by horseback, perhaps accompanied by one of the seasoned gauchos. You’re also welcome to observe and take part in the ongoing work of the Estancia which may include milking, driving cattle, vaccinating and branding the mainly Hereford and Aberdeen Angus stock. This evening’s dinner features authentic regional cuisine accompanied by fine Argentine wine. Meals L+D
