Welcome to Buenos Aires, Argentina

Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be warmly greeted and escorted by private car to the stylish Sofitel Hotel, perfectly situated in the elegant city-center district of Recoleta.

Private City Tour

This morning’s private sightseeing tour showcases the best of the Argentine capital - from Plaza de Mayo, the historic hub of Buenos Aires, to colorful neighborhoods like San Telmo, the city’s oldest, and La Boca, the charming waterfront district where the Tango was born! Drive through Palermo with its lovely parks and see the glamorous Recoleta Cemetery where Eva Peron was laid to rest. Return to your hotel and enjoy the rest of this day to relax, shop and explore at your own pace. The Sofitel’s heart-of-it-all location offers convenient access to some of the capital’s finest restaurants, cafes and galleries. Meals B

Fly to Ushuaia

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred by private car to the airport for your included flight to the end of the Continent! Upon arrival in Ushuaia, often hailed as the southernmost city in the world, you’ll be met and escorted to our intimate and comfortable adventure vessel, the Stella Australis. You’ll have a chance to deposit your luggage before dining on your own for lunch. Then join your private guide to explore the highlights of this colorful and remote town. Late in the afternoon, embark the Stella Australis and enjoy a welcome cocktail reception hosted by your captain and the ship’s outstanding team of knowledgeable Expedition Leaders. This evening, the Stella Australis charts a course through the Beagle Channel and into the Strait of Magellan bound for the remote wilderness of Southern Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego.

Throughout your cruise, you’ll enjoy outstanding meals accompanied by a fine selection of beverages, liquors and wines. In addition to daily Small Group excursions via your ship’s fleet of Zodiac boats, you’ll enjoy a variety of lectures and audiovisual presentations which have been designed to deepen your appreciation and understanding of the region’s flora, fauna, geography, glaciology, ethnography and history. Cruising from Cape Horn to Wulaia Bay

Sail through the pristine Murray Channel and across Nassau Bay to explore “the End of the Earth” at Cape Horn National Park, a spectacular 1,400-foot-tall rocky promontory where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans meet. In the afternoon, go ashore at historic Wulaia Bay, where Charles Darwin’s ship the HMS Beagle landed in 1833. Join your naturalist guide for a refreshing walk through a Magellanic forest. At hike’s end, you’ll be well rewarded with spectacular views of Patagonia’s incredible mountain landscapes.  Meals B,L,D

The Glaciers of the Darwin Range

After charting a course through the remote Brecknock, Cockburn and Magdalena Channels, the Stella Australis will enter the magnificent Agostini Fjord in the heart of the mighty Darwin Range. In the afternoon, join your Expedition Leader for a Small Group excursion along the shores of a lovely lagoon to see the impressive Aguila Glacier.  Meals B,L,D

Explore Magdalena Island… Disembark in Punta Arenas

Early this morning, join your Expedition Leader on Magdalena Island, home to an historic lighthouse and an enormous colony of 120,000 Magellanic penguins. [Note: In September and April, when the penguins have migrated to richer feeding grounds, passengers will enjoy a Zodiac excursion to observe the boisterous sea lions on Marta Island.]

Later this morning, you’ll disembark the Stella Australis in Punta Arenas and transfer to the airport for your included flight to Santiago. Upon arrival in Chile’s sophisticated capital, you’ll be warmly greeted and escorted by private car to the Lastarria Hotel, a deluxe boutique property set in an historic 1927 residence in the vibrant heart of the city.  Meals B

Santiago Sightseeing

This morning’s private tour showcases the contemporary and historic highlights of the capital. Admire the gleaming highrises of the Financial District and the fine Colonial-era architecture that grace the Alameda. See the impressive La Moneda Palace and Plaza de Armas, the picturesque main square of Santiago. Then ascend San Cristobal Hill for commanding views of the city before returning to your hotel.  Meals B
