Luis, our guide, was excellent. Knowledgeable, personable, service-oriented. We delighted in the huge variety of plants and animals, especially the numerous scarlet macaws and capuchins at the Parador Resort at Manuel Antonio. The view of the Arenal Volcano from the Hotel Arenal Kioro was spectacular. All accommodations were lovely.

Food - Excellent! Your choice off the menu, no prefixed menu. Local favorites for the curious and traditional options for those not so much. Hotels - Excellent ...Each was more spectacular than the one before it Daily Excursions - Excellent ... from the mountains to the sea beautiful sights to see, animals to appreciate, and people to meet Our local guide and driver - Excellent! ... Our guide Luis shared his vast knowledge on all aspects of his country and having been well traveled himself, knew so much about where many of the guests lived and traveled. Our driver Faustino (Tino) navigated the few narrow roads that connect all parts of the country with skill and patience that would push many of us to frustration and impatience. The pre-trip extension to Tortuguero is a must, starting with the small plane landing on a runway nestled between a beach on the Caribbean and a river.

Learning about the nature and ecology of Costa Rico was a delight. Our guide Luis Gonzalez was very knowledgeable and informative. The 3 meals per day were great.
