DAY 5 | Untouched villages of Pelion As in ancient times, the hills of Pelion are
deeply forested with chestnut, beech, olive and fruit groves. Its villages, too, exude
a timeless air and you’ll spend this day immersed in their charms. Take in the views from Makrinitsa, perched on a hillside, and admire the fine mosaics of the 18th-century church in Milies. In Vyzitsa, women of the village will prepare a traditional Greek meal exclusively for our group. DAY 6 | The ancient sites of Volos Explore the Neolithic remains at Dimini where scholars have discovered evidence of a surprisingly sophisticated stone age community. A Mycenaean settlement that emerged later might have been the fabled city of Jason – who went in search of the Golden Fleece. A tour of the Archaeological Museum deepens your understanding of the region’s ancient history. DAY 7 | Across the seas to Skiathos Travel across the blue waters of the Pagasetic
Gulf and into the Aegean to idyllic Skiathos, one of the Sporades Islands. On arrival, check in to the Hotel Elivi. meals b+l
DAY 8 | An idyllic Greek island Experience the delights of Skiathos as you explore the labyrinthine alleys of Old Town with our guide and visit the hillside Evangelistria Monastery, founded in the 1700’s. Enjoy a free afternoon. meals b+l
DAY 9 | A day on Skopelos
If there’s a bit of déjà vu as you step off the
ferry on this nearby island, perhaps it’s because you recognize it from the hit movie Mama Mia. But without the film crews and celebrities, it’s a timeless and idyllic place, filled with ancient frescoed churches which you’ll visit with our guide. You’ll also tour the folklore museum and a 17th-century nunnery set on a hill amidst the virgin pine forests. Return to Skiathos for a free evening. meals b+l
