Tour the Amber Palace, home to the Chamber of Mirrors. See the oft-photographed Palace of Winds, tour the City Palace Museum and visit Jantar Mantar c, an accurate observatory built in 1726. Meals B

Onward to Agra

Explore the “ghost town” of Fatehpur Sikri c, built and mysteriously abandoned in the 16th century - but still in pristine condition. Continue to Agra and check in to your choice of hotel. This evening’s visit to the Taj Mahal c reveals this icon bathed in the golden glow of dusk. Later at a marble-inlay workshop, you’ll have a chance to see highly skilled regional artisans at work. Early risers will have an opportunity to visit the Taj Mahal again this morning, an unforgettable spectacle as the sun casts its first light upon the irridescent marble of this monument to love. Discover Kathmandu

After breakfast, your in-depth guided exploration of Kathmandu includes Durbar Square and Hanuman Dhoka, the ancient royal quarter of the city. See the Mahadev & Parvati Temple and the House of the Goddess Kumari and then explore the colorful local bazaars. In the afternoon, we’ll take you into the lovely Nepalese countryside for a guided tour of Patan, known as the City of Grace and Fine Arts. Visit the impressive Teleju Temple and admire Patan’s traditional architecture, embellished with beautifully carved windows and balconies. Return to your hotel in Kathmandu and enjoy the balance of your day at leisure. Meals B

Into the Kathmandu Valley

After breakfast, you’ll journey into the timeless Kathmandu Valley to explore ancient Bhadgaon, one of the three kingdoms of medieval Nepal. In the town’s main square, you’ll see architectural treasures like the Lion Gate and the Palace of 55 Windows. Then visit Bodhnath, the largest stupa in Nepal and venerated by both Tibetan and Nepalese Buddhists. Before returning to your hotel, stop along the banks of the River Bagmati to see Pashupatinath Temple; dedicated to Lord Shiva this is one of the holiest Hindu shrines in the world. The balance of your afternoon is free to enjoy as you wish. Meals B
