On arrival in Itami airport, you’ll be met and guided to the convenient shuttle bus that will take you into the heart of the city. Check in to your deluxe hotel and enjoy the rest of this day at leisure.

In the engaging company of your own expert personal guide, you’ll join local residents on Kyoto’s modern public transport system to visit the must-see sites of this historic city. Your morning sightseeing begins at Kinkaku-ji; often referred to as the Golden Pavilion, this gold-gilded Zen temple traces its history to the early 1400’s and overlooks a tranquil pond. Then enter into the Age of the Samurai at Nijo Castle where you can try to walk in stealth across the Nightingale Floor, ingeniously designed to chirp in warning if would-be assassins penetrated the Shogun’s inner chambers! Your half-day tour ends at Sanjusangendo Temple, famed for its 1,001 statues of Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy. Meals B
