I enjoyed the small size of the tour group (8), great tour leader (Aleksander), and the tourism in regions that have not yet caught on so no crowds.

I’ve traveled a great deal but I wasn’t sure what to expect on this trip. I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of the itinerary; I really enjoyed visiting the monasteries, ruins, and other historic landmarks of the three countries. My friend and I spent two+ days on our own exploring Tirana. We were disappointed that the tour started on Day 3 not Day 2; it would have been great if we had been given the opportunity to go on an excursion to Berat or Butrint on Day 2 as it was not included in the itinerary. The sites in Shkodra, Krujë, Durres, Gjirokastra were terrific. A favorite was the visit to Heraclea Lyncestis, mostly due to the wonderful archeologist who made the site come alive. I liked the quaint inn at Gjirokastra, the fig preserves at breakfast were delicious! The shopping at the various bazaars, especially in Kruje and in Gjirokastra was great fun! The highlight for me was the visit to the Meteora Monasteries, even though the sites with their many many stairs and uphill paths were very difficult to reach. We visited two of the monasteries on one day because we arrived too late the previous day to visit one of them. Our tour guide, however, took us to the monasteries in the evening,, and it was beautiful. We had so much fun seeing the views and taking photos. It rained the next day on our hike up to the monasteries, so the trip the previous day was appreciated. It was an arduous walk/hike, and my friend was glad she took her walking stick. Alex, our guide, is an energetic, fun, and knowledgeable young man. He was very accommodating to the group. I appreciated the fact that all the meals were included; the food was delicious, fresh and tasty. The trip was a great adventure.

We had a wonderful experience using this tour company! It’s the first trip we have taken with A + R and your staff was easy to work with, extremely accommodating and helped bring our Balkan adventure! They took care of all the small, yet daunting details and created an experience where we were able to sit back and relax. Alexander, our trip planner/guide & driver went over and above to make sure we were all taken care of on these off the beaten track places. We encountered a lot of rain while on the road and some of the roads in this part of the world are challenging. I encourage you to use this tour company to help plan your next vacation! They were fantastic! Some of the most memorable parts of the trip was the town of Gjirokastra and the Meteora monasteries. Also the food. We ate like kings. You won’t go hungry in this trip. We actually opted out of a couple of dinners because we just had enough to eat at lunch.

It was great to see all that Alabania, Macedonia and Northern Greece had to offer. So much history. The hotels, travel arrangements, timeliness of pick-ups, etc were all wonderful and gave us a lot of peace of mind. There was one day(Macedonia) that was extremely long and by the time we got to Skopje we were really beat. There was a wine tasting before we got to Skopje and, had it been another time, it might have been a bit more enjoyable, but understandable that there are great distances between sites, etc. Trying to get everything in, is difficult, at best, without any issues that invariably come up. We honestly did not know what to expect, but we were very pleased with everything about this trip. We are so impressed by the thoroughness on every trip we take with Alexander+Roberts. We sing your praises as often as we can. We will not hesitate to book a trip with you again! Our trips with Alexander+Roberts are always enjoyable. We are always so amazed at how you manage all of the details to make the trip stress free and enjoyable. Many thanks, for a wonderful experience from beginning to end.
